How do I renew my Rent Agreement?

It is very easy and simple to renew your rent agreement.

If you have registered your previous agreement from ANULOM, just log in on Anulom.com

It is not necessary to fill old data again. It is readily available on screen. 

Click on Delivered/ Renewals button on top of screen. 

Click on RENEW in the STATUS column for the agreement you want to renew. Old draft agreement will appear on screen.

 Make necessary changes to the new draft agreement about start and end date, name, address and other details of owner or tenant which have changed. Approve the draft and make payment. Proceed to booking appointment for biometric verification.

Is it necessary to register the new agreement or is it possible to only extend the date of existing agreement?

Maharashtra governments IGR department does not allow editing of the rent agreement which is already registered.  New agreement needs to be registered with new start and end dates. 

 

Is it required to pay stamp duty and registration fees to Maharashtra government again for renewal of rent agreement?

Yes, it is necessary to pay all government duties for the new period of the agreement. It is a new agreement for which the entire process needs to be completed including biometric verification of the owner, tenant and two witnesses. 

 

Is it possible to edit the tenant’s name in an existing agreement before the end of tenure?

Maharashtra governments IGR department does not allow editing of the rent agreement which is already registered.  Once the rent agreement is registered, it cannot be edited. To change the name of the tenant, a new agreement needs to be initiated. Entire process must be completed with new details. Also, government duties need to be paid again. 

Is it mandatory to renew a rent agreement?
